A sexual assault claim has been made against pop star Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin, a Puerto Rican pop singer, was accused of sexual assault after he sued his nephew for what he said were false accusations of sexual abuse.

Edward Ramirez, a police spokesman, said Saturday that the complaint was made at a police station in San Juan, the capital of the island, on Friday. Due to the nature of the complaint, details like who filed it and what it says are not shared with the public.

A person who wasn’t allowed to talk about the issue confirmed that the lawsuit was filed by Martin’s nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez Martin. The person also said that the complaint does not automatically lead to an arrest because the event in question did not happen recently. Instead, the police will look into it to see if they should file charges.

After Sanchez said under oath that Martin had never touched him in a sexual way, the court put the case on hold. Sanchez had asked a judge in July to stop the singer from coming near her.

Martin’s spokeswoman, Flavia Fernandez, said that his lawyer is looking into the situation and won’t say anything in public right now.

On Thursday, the artist’s lawyers filed a lawsuit against his “troubled” nephew. They said that he had done things like harm, extortion, hostile persecution, and legal abuse.

They said that Sanchez’s accusations cost Martin at least $10 million in lost projects and contracts and $20 million in damage to his reputation.

The lawsuit says that Sanchez would talk to Martin up to 10 times a day, and most of those conversations were “meaningless rants with no clear goal.” He is also accused of giving out Martin’s private phone number, which made Martin change it.

Also, the lawsuit says that Sanchez made up a seven-month relationship with Martin, saying that Martin called her often and said he wanted the relationship to continue.

The lawsuit says that nothing could be further from the truth.

Lawyers also brought up the fact that Sanchez already had two restraining orders against him from a different stalking case.
