India and Pakistan will compete in the Asia Cup on August 28 in Dubai.

Teams are guaranteed at least two games.

On Tuesday, Jay Shah, the head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), revealed that India would begin their campaign against Pakistan in the Asia Cup T20 in Dubai on August 28.

Unless there are any injury-related withdrawals, the team that India selects for the Asia Cup will essentially be the core group that will participate in the T20 World Cup in Australia.

The event’s schedule was announced by BCCI Secretary Shah, who also serves as the organization’s chairman. The tournament was moved out of Sri Lanka owing to the island country’s ongoing political and economic crises.

“The wait is finally over as the conflict for Asian dominance begins on August 27 and concludes on September 11. The ICC T20 World Cup will be well-prepared for with the help of the 15th Asia Cup, “While issuing the fixture, Shah tweeted.

The format of the Asia Cup is always determined by whatever format’s next world tournament is taking place, hence this time it is a T20 competition. The Asia Cup in 2019 will be an ODI competition.

India, Pakistan, and an undetermined qualifier will make up Group A, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan will make up Group B.

The Indo-Pak matchups are the tournament’s major draw, therefore it is only fitting that the ACC has guaranteed at least two of them. It will last three games if the two teams get to the final.

After the league stage matches, India and Pakistan are anticipated to place in the top two. The teams now get a second chance to compete against one another in the “Super 4’s” stage. The top two teams will then advance to the championship game on September 11 in Dubai.
