Indian men’s table tennis team wins gold at CWG 2022 by defeating Singapore 3-1.

India now has five gold, three silver, and three bronze medals from the competition.

At the currently taking place Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, the Indian men’s table tennis team won the gold medal after defeating Singapore 3-1 in the final on Tuesday.

Yong Izaac Quek and Yew En Koen Pang faced up against Harmeet Desai and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran in the first match at the NEC Table Tennis Show Court 1. In the second game, the Indian duo seemed more at ease and were playing at full strength as they quickly seized the lead and won 11-7.

In the third game, the Indian team trounced their Sinapore counterparts 13-11, 11-7, and 11-5 to give India an early advantage and an overall match score of 1-0.

In the men’s team table tennis championship, India is the reigning champion.

Sharath Kamal Achanta faced Zhe Yu Clarence Chew in the second final match. The Indian star struggled in the first round, losing to his Singaporean opponent 7-11.

In the second game, Sharath Kamal came back strongly to win 14-12.

Singapore’s Chew won the third game 11-3 to take 2-1 lead in the match. Additionally, he won the fourth game 11-9, and Singapore won the second set 11-7, 12-14, 11-3, and 11-9 to draw the series at 1-1.

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran squared up against Yew En Koen Pang in the third bout. A tremendous comeback by the Indian player allowed him to win it 12-10.

Pang defeated Sathiyan in the second game of the third match 11-7, but Sathiyan kept up the pressure and won the third game 11-7 and ultimately the match.

The Indian player’s incredible comeback was reflected in the scorelines of 12-10, 7-11, 11-7, and 11-4.

Zhe Yu Clarence Chew, who had previously beaten Sharath Kamal Achanta, was defeated in the third match by Harmeet Desai.

Harmeet had a great start and won the first game 11-8. He maintained his lead and won 11-8, 11-5, 11-6 in straight sets.

India is now ranked sixth in the medal count after winning five gold, three silver, and three bronze medals thus far in the competition.
