More than the one of Queen Elizabeth II? How much will it cost for a state funeral for Shinzo Abe?

More than 70% of people polled by the Kyodo news agency thought that Japan’s government was spending too much on Shinzo Abe’s funeral, which led to a debate about how much it was costing. Compared to the official burial of Queen Elizabeth II last week, the cost of the former prime minister’s funeral is estimated to be 1.66 billion yen.

The cost of the monarch’s official funeral has not been made public, but the Daily Mirror says it was about £8 million ($1.3 billion). This means that Shinzo Abe’s funeral will probably be more expensive than Queen Elizabeth II’s.

Shinzo Abe’s state funeral is expected to draw 700 people from 217 countries, including US Vice President Kamala Harris and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This means that security costs will go up because of the number of people attending.

Even though world leaders went to the Queen’s state funeral, Japanese media said the cost of the funeral was outrageous.

Japan is still having trouble with inflation for the first time in a long time, which has made people unhappy with the price of the state burial. The fact that Shinzo Abe’s funeral will be a state funeral has also hurt Fumio Kishida’s popularity in Japan.
