Russia and Myanmar were not asked to attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral

A Whitehall source said on Tuesday that officials from Russia, Belarus, and Myanmar have not been invited to the state funeral for Queen Elizabeth, which is set to take place next Monday.

As a response to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, Britain and its Western allies have worked to cut off Russia and its ally Belarus from the rest of the world by imposing economic sanctions and taking other steps.

Myanmar and its military have been hit with British sanctions as London gives more help to the Rohingya minority in the Southeast Asian country.

According to the BBC, invitations have been sent to the heads of state of most of the countries with which Britain has diplomatic ties. Over 500 international dignitaries are expected to attend Queen Elizabeth’s burial in London.

Several foreign leaders, including the prime ministers of Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, have confirmed that they will be at the event, which is expected to be one of the largest diplomatic gatherings in Britain in recent years.
