Sheikh Mohammed gives Dh50 million to help the people affected by the floods in Pakistan.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered urgent aid totaling Dh50 million to help people in Pakistan who have been affected by the floods.

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), the World Food Programme, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment will give direct food aid to people and families who were hurt by the huge floods that hit Pakistan (MBRCH).

More than 1,136 people died in the floods, which also forced millions of people to move, destroyed more than 3,450 kilometres of important roads, and cut off whole villages.

Pakistan has had four times as much rain in the last few weeks as it has in the last 30 years.

The UAE wants to help people who are in need around the world because of natural disasters and other crises. This effort to help people right away is in line with this goal.

When the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) was started in 2015, it brought together more than 30 organisations and projects for development and humanitarian causes, most of which Sheikh Mohammed had started and supported for more than 20 years. It is now home to a lot of charities and projects that help people.
